Since renovations are still in progress at the LaGrange Park Public Library, our usual meeting place, Ron Hursh will continue to host this meeting at his home, 1430 Forest Road, in LaGrange Park.  The house is located in the middle of the second block (a very long block) north of the 31st St/Forest Rd stop light. Look for a Salt Creek sign in his front lawn.

Walk down Ron’s driveway on the south side of the house to the rear entrance. Enter and take the stairs to your left down to the recreation room. Masks are optional.

Ron has once again graciously offered his home for the annual year-end meeting. His address is 1430 Forest Road in LaGrange Park. and his house is located in the middle of the second block north of the 31st St/Forest Road stop light – look for a Salt Creek sign in the front yard.

Hofmann Dam River Rats Present Their 52nd Semi-Annual Cleanup
Sunday, October 29th, 2023 - 9AM to Noon

Meet in the forest preserve area east of the Barrypoint Bridge and the Hofmann Tower. Bring your kids, parents, neighbors, or friends!

Bags and poker sticks will be provided by the COOK COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT.  Wear long pants, sleeves and sturdy shoes.

Refreshments will be served

We accept AND recycle aluminum cans to raise money for future cleanups and events.

The 29th annual spring cleanup will be held Saturday, June 3rd.  Walk along the creek and pick up some trash or actually get in the water and clean up by pulling out things that do not belong.  Everyone is welcome — it's fun and it's free.  Folks with waders and canoes are especially needed.

Gather at 9:00 a.m. in the Elk Grove High School parking lot along the creek where you will be provided with garbage bags, gloves, and pick up sticks.  Dress for the weather and possible muddy conditions.

Coordinated by The Conservation Foundation, the DuPage County River Sweep is an annual event seeking to beautify and maintain waterways in DuPage County by keeping them clean. Among these waterways is Salt Creek which runs through Wood Dale in the northeast part of DuPage County. Volunteers are needed to help in this effort.

Calling all community & nature lovers to volunteer for the annual Salt Creek Spring Cleanup. This event covers the cleanup of various segments of the southern portion of Salt Creek between Bemis Woods in Western Springs and 17th Ave. in LaGrange Park.

Individuals, families, and groups are welcome. This outing is a great opportunity to be with friends and family, meet others interested in caring for the environment, and spend some time enjoying our local natural areas at the height of springtime! Participants can also enjoy environmental programs and a complimentary cookout lunch courtesy of GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc.

Those wishing to participate in cleanups along the banks of the creek and on land please meet by 9:00am at the Bemis North Forest Preserve foot bridge to sign in.

Participants choosing to bring their canoe or kayak and paddle along the creek to collect debris from log jams and shoreline areas should contact Scott Saacke at 424-241-8192 prior to the event. Entrance to the Bemis North parking area is off of Wolf Road at the creek north of Ogden Avenue and south of 31st Street near Western Springs. Individuals and groups meet by 9:00am at the North Bemis Forest Preserve foot bridge to sign in.
