SALT CREEK ANNUAL SPRING CLEANUP — 2022

Calling all community & nature lovers to volunteer for the annual Salt Creek Spring Cleanup. This event covers the cleanup of various segments of the southern portion of Salt Creek between Bemis Woods in Western Springs and 17th Ave. in LaGrange Park.

Individuals, families, and groups are welcome. This outing is a great opportunity to be with friends and family, meet others interested in caring for the environment, and spend some time enjoying our local natural areas at the height of springtime! Participants can also enjoy environmental programs and a complimentary cookout lunch courtesy of GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc.

Those wishing to participate in cleanups along the banks of the creek and on land please meet by 9:00am at the Bemis North Forest Preserve foot bridge to sign in.

Participants choosing to bring their canoe or kayak and paddle along the creek to collect debris from log jams and shoreline areas should contact Scott Saacke at 424-241-8192 prior to the event. Watercraft users will meet at the bridge earlier at 7:00am for sign-in to be back in time for the cookout lunch beginning at 11:00. 

Entrance to the Bemis North parking area is off of Wolf Road at the creek north of Ogden Avenue and south of 31st Street near Western Springs. Individuals and groups meet by 9:00am at the North Bemis Forest Preserve foot bridge to sign in.
